What it looks like:

Bulky and hard. Couldn’t break it off if I tried. Darkish blue hue fading into a purple/black color

Observed Habitat/Behavior

Chilling on the tree that I found it on. Tree was dead so it was probably eating it up.

Natural History

They live on birch trees (usually dead ones) and will decompose the tree that they are on slowly over time and will reproduce through spores.
